Our CSA

Persephone Farm has been a pioneer in the Community Supported Agriculture movement. We started with 11 subscribers in 1991, making us one of the longest-running programs in the country. From the first week of June through the end of October, subscribers receive an armload of fresh-picked seasonal vegetables, herbs and flowers from our farm. In addition, subscribers can choose to receive all sorts of optional add-on shares from other local producers. These offerings change from year to year as we partner with different small businesses, friends and neighbors. We aim to foster a deeper connection with all the foods we offer through recipe sharing, a fun newsletter and lots of foodie conversation at our weekly pickups.  We also invite subscribers to enjoy a magical summer evening on the farm when we prepare field-inspired hors d’oeuvres and have tours of the garden, along with a few surprises!

We’re the CSA for flower lovers!

Many subscribers tell us that choosing their flower bouquet is a high point of their week. As ecological farmers, we appreciate our flower beds and borders not only for their beauty but also for their ability to attract precious pollinators and beneficial insects. Bees are in trouble for all sorts of reasons.  The abundance of pesticide-free blooms scattered across our fields provides a refuge as well as a banquet for them. The flowers also help us add diversity to our crop rotations, helping to break disease and pest cycles. For all these reasons, as well as the sheer joy they bring, we include flowers as an integral part of our CSA shares. Full shares receive a bouquet every week. Split shares receive a bouquet every other week. Please don’t feel guilty about receiving flowers! They are essential to our farm’s sustainability.

Save 10%-15%

A CSA is a collaboration between grower and eater, rather than a mere exchange of dollars for vegetables. We aim to provide 10%-15% more value over the season than the cost of similar produce at the farmers’ market and other local outlets. It is our way of thanking you for paying in advance, which helps the farm at the beginning of the season to defray the cost of seeds, tools and other inputs.

How much does it cost?

CSA pricing is listed on our Square store.

A full share contains five to six different seasonal veggies and includes a flower bouquet each week (21 weeks). A split share contains a similar amount of produce—about a week’s worth for most households—and includes a bouquet every other week.
